Parking Enforcement

Duke University Police Department enforces parking regulations by issuing parking citations to vehicles found in violation. Vehicles parked on campus must be in one marked space at all times. Vehicles must also be registered with Parking & Transportation Services and must properly display a valid permit for the appropriate space when parking from 7:00 AM through 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, excluding Campus Holidays.

Certain spaces throughout campus are reserved 24 hours, seven days a week, including Campus Holidays. At all times the appropriate permit for the reserved space/area/lot must be displayed on the vehicle. Vehicles parked in reserved spaces without the proper permit will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Lots designated as "Reserved for Events" require all vehicles to be removed from the lot or area before the posted time. Signs are posted 48 hours prior to the event.

Visitor parking permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus by individuals not affiliated with the university. Faculty, staff, and students of any type, as associated with Duke University or Medical Center, are not considered visitors. Individuals who use the resources of Duke University on a regular basis (more than twice weekly) are not considered visitors. Parking & Transportation Services will sell Daily Visitor permits to departments for distribution to their guests. Official visitors may use any of the designated Visitor pay lots or meters.
