No.  Duke Transit buses are fare-free for all students, employees, patients and visitors.
  2. When do the buses operate?
An extensive schedule is offered by Duke Transit.  During the academic year, we are on the road twenty-two hours per day.
  3. Where do the buses travel?
There are ten primary routes throughout the campus and Medical Center.  In addition, the Robertson Scholars route provides express service between Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill from September through May.
  4. Can I ride the Robertson Scholars bus to Chapel Hill?
Yes. Any member of the Duke community is welcome to utilize the Robertson Scholars bus
  5. Are the buses accessible?

Please call the Duke Transit dispatcher at (919) 684-2218 to inquire about lost items.
  7. Do Duke Transit buses run during snow storms?
Because we value the wellbeing of our passengers and staff, Duke Transit will only operate buses when road conditions safely allow it.  Service may be temporarily suspended during inclement weather.  Whenever possible, route interruptions will be posted on the Alerts! section of this web site.
  8. What is SafeRides and where does it go?
SafeRides is a free van service intended to supplement regularly scheduled bus routes.  We operate from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. year-round (except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day).  Information about SafeRides' boundaries and policies can be found here.
  9. I’d like a ride to the Streets at Southpoint.  Will SafeRides take me there?
No, SafeRides vans do not travel far from campus.  However, Charlene’s Safe Ride, a private company not affiliated with Parking and Transportation Services, will provide point-to-point service for a fee.  Charlene’s accepts the DukeCard as a payment method.
