| Want to Park on Flowers Drive? Here's How!! |
 |
Say Goodbye to the H Lot
Find at least two other people who work similar hours, currently drive alone and have an H permit, and you could find yourself parking on Flowers Drive. Interested? Then submit your group request to PTS. If you and your carpool group qualify*, you will enjoy the convenience and ease of parking on Flowers Drive at the low rate of $4.00 per month for each participant.

Why carpool?
Carpooling decreases the number of vehicles on the road, reducing congestion and greenhouse gases. So not only are you getting a more convenient location to park, you are contributing to Duke’s sustainability efforts.
Who is eligible for the program?
Current Duke employees who have H parking permits may apply for the Flowers Drive program.
Don't know who to share a ride with?
Sign up for Share The Ride, a new statewide rideshare matching service, which allows commuters in North Carolina to quickly and securely find other individuals who share similar commutes and work hours, and are interested in carpooling or vanpooling.
I park elsewhere. Can I apply for the carpool spaces on Flowers Drive?
Sorry, but this pilot program is intended only for employees with H permits. PTS already offers carpooling options for other lots. More information is available here.
What information do I need to apply for the spaces?
Your request should include names, Duke Unique ID numbers, email addresses and phone numbers of all the members of your carpool group.
I occasionally have to drive to appointments. Where do I park those days?
PTS will provide 24 daily passes to each carpool member. The passes may be used in Parking Garage III patient/visitor areas, H lots, Grounds lot on Frank Bassett Drive, or the Duke University Road lots.
What if I have an emergency and have to leave early?
For those unexpected crises, carpool members may register for Triangle Transit Authority's Emergency Ride Home Program. Information about registering for and using this service can be found at www.rideTTA.org.
Can my carpool group renew its space from year to year?
Your initial carpool permit will expire August 15, 2008. Continuation will be based upon the success of the pilot program.
The fine print...
*To qualify, each carpool must have at least three participants who are Duke employees with current H parking permits. If a carpool shrinks to two members, the group has one month to add a member or return the carpool permit to PTS. Priority will be based upon the combined length of time the members of a carpool have held H parking permits.
